One year ago, on the 18th of September, 2019, I fulfilled my dream and set up the UNAWEZA foundation. Ever since I can remember, after the airing of almost every episode of the show “WOMAN AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD” in TVN, I asked myself how I could support its main character. What could I and every one of us do? For years, with friends from work and thanks to the great involvement of people with good hearts, we organized spontaneous charity drives and tried to help in this way. Now, the time has come to open my wings. And that’s how the UNAWEZA foundation was born,” says Martyna.
Today, the UNAWEZA foundation helps women in Poland and around the world. Thanks to the support of so many generous people, we give our mentees access to education, medical treatment, and fulfill their dreams. WE GIVE WOMEN WINGS!
During the first year of our operation, we collected almost 1,400,000 zł. From this money, the foundation helped to finalize the initiative of The Society of African Missionsto construct a home for Kabula and albino children in Tanzania, as well as support its daily operations. In Mexico, we carry out projects aimed at pepenadoras (female trash collectors), providing them with vocational training, as well as educational and psychological training so that they have the strength to tear themselves away from life at the dump, and we care for their children, ensuring they have school supplies and sports lessons. In Poland, along with the Po Drugie Foundation, we are building the Home for Teenage Mothers and Their Children.
During the holidays, the UNAWEZA Foundation and frisco.pl regularly carry out the initiative “In Buying You Help,” thanks to which we give people things they need. Up until now, over 47 thousand products, with a value of over 290,000 zł has gone to those under the care of one of the largest homes for single mothers – the Łódź Stanisława Leszczyńska home – as well as the JUNON Women’s Association and the Po Drugie Foundation that takes care of young homeless people. In May of 2020, the Martyna.World store was opened. It is a STORE THAT HELPS. In choosing the “IN BUYING I HELP” option, they pay the same amount for a given product, but some of the amount is given as a donation to the UNAWEZA foundation and helps others. From the sale of products as well as COFFEE FROM THE EDGE OF THE WORLD, the foundation has received over 42,000 zł.
On the first birthday of the UNAWEZA foundation, we began a special social initiative, #iamenough #WspieramNieOceniam, thanks to which we want to change the lives of women for the better. Every day, millions of women throughout the world wonder if they are beautiful, smart, thin, sexy, happy, feminine, educated, caring, and capable enough… And this could go on and on. Maybe it’s high time for every one of us to accept ourselves. Just as we are. Because each of us is ENOUGH. We women still have a lot to do when it comes to feeling our own worth. Even if we differ with the color of our skin, points of view and culture that we live in, this challenge is universal. I have learned from women at the edge of the world that self-acceptance is a choice. I am the best version of myself. I AM ENOUGH.” Martyna says about the initiative.
“In connecting to the motto of the foundation WE GIVE WOMEN WINGS, there will be a special birthday installation at the Hala Koszyki shopping center featuring giant wings, prepared by the unique Koszalin artist, Cukin Art.
In this way, we want to inspire women to express themselves and their desires bravely. We encourage every woman to take a picture with our wings. Let’s show that there are a lot of us, that together we can do a lot of good for each other and instead of bringing each other down, let’s raise each other up. Let’s give wings to each other,” urges Martyna.
